Mobiles
+98 9XX XXX XXXX
Iranian mobile numbers have 11 digits when written locally and start with 09, for example 0912 XXX XXXX. Drop the first 0 and add +98: 0912 XXX XXXX becomes +98 912 XXX XXXX.
Landlines
Landlines start with a province code. Drop its 0 and add +98: Tehran 021 becomes +98 21, Mashhad 051 becomes +98 51, Isfahan 031 becomes +98 31, Shiraz 071 becomes +98 71 and Tabriz 041 becomes +98 41.
The dialer accepts numbers pasted in Persian digits (۰ to ۹) and converts them, as long as the number starts with +98 or 0098.

Calling Iran: questions
Does the person in Iran need an app or internet access?
No. DanaTel calls their normal phone number, so the call rings like any other phone call. Only you need an internet connection.
Can I call Iranian mobiles and landlines?
Yes, both. They cost the same per-minute rate.
What is the time difference between Iran and the UK?
Iran is 3½ hours ahead of the UK in winter and 2½ hours ahead in the UK summer. Iran no longer changes its clocks for summer.
Do I need to install an app?
No. DanaTel works in the web browser you already have, on your phone or computer. Sign in, type the number and press Call. On a phone you can add DanaTel to your home screen so it opens like an app, but you don't have to.
How much does it cost?
Each country has a price per minute, shown on our rates page and in the dialer before you call. Some countries also have a small fee per connected call, shown next to the rate. There's no sign-up fee, subscription or monthly charge: you buy credit and it's used as you call.
How is billing calculated?
Calls are billed in 6-second steps: the call length is rounded up to the next 6 seconds, not the next minute, then multiplied by the country's per-minute rate, plus its connection fee if it has one. For example, a call of 2 minutes 3 seconds is billed as 2.1 minutes. The dialer shows the cost so far while you talk.
Are unanswered calls charged?
No. If nobody answers, the line is busy or the call can't connect, you pay nothing, connection fee included.
