How to dial Bangladesh numbers

In the DanaTel dialer, type 880 (the + is already there), then the number without its first 0. Or paste a number that starts with +880 or 00880. The dialer shows 🇧🇩 Bangladesh and the price as soon as it recognises the code.

Mobiles

+880 1XXX XXXXXX

Bangladeshi mobile numbers have 11 digits when written locally and start with 01, for example 017XX XXXXXX. Drop the first 0 and add +880: it becomes +880 17XX XXXXXX.

Landlines

Landlines start with a city code. Drop its 0 and add +880: Dhaka 02 becomes +880 2, Chattogram 031 becomes +880 31, Sylhet 0821 becomes +880 821, Khulna 041 becomes +880 41 and Rajshahi 0721 becomes +880 721.

Bangladesh's country code has three digits, 880. After it, leave out the 0 at the start of the local number: +880 17XX XXXXXX, not +880 017XX XXXXXX.

Calling Bangladesh: questions

Can I call Sylhet and villages outside the big cities?

Yes. DanaTel calls any Bangladeshi mobile or landline number; the call goes over the normal phone network in Bangladesh, so it reaches wherever their phone works.

Do they need an internet connection to answer?

No. The call rings on their normal phone. Only you need an internet connection.

What's the time difference with Bangladesh?

Bangladesh is 6 hours ahead of the UK in winter and 5 hours ahead in the UK summer, as Bangladesh doesn't change its clocks.

Do I need to install an app?

No. DanaTel works in the web browser you already have, on your phone or computer. Sign in, type the number and press Call. On a phone you can add DanaTel to your home screen so it opens like an app, but you don't have to.

How much does it cost?

Each country has a price per minute, shown on our rates page and in the dialer before you call. Some countries also have a small fee per connected call, shown next to the rate. There's no sign-up fee, subscription or monthly charge: you buy credit and it's used as you call.

How is billing calculated?

Calls are billed in 6-second steps: the call length is rounded up to the next 6 seconds, not the next minute, then multiplied by the country's per-minute rate, plus its connection fee if it has one. For example, a call of 2 minutes 3 seconds is billed as 2.1 minutes. The dialer shows the cost so far while you talk.

Are unanswered calls charged?

No. If nobody answers, the line is busy or the call can't connect, you pay nothing, connection fee included.
