What DanaTel does

DanaTel lets you call mobiles and landlines in other countries from the web browser on your phone or computer. The person you call answers on their normal phone: they don't need an app, an account or an internet connection.

You pay as you go. There's no contract and no monthly fee, and you see the price before you call.

Why we built it

Calling apps work well when both people have the same app and a good connection. Many families can't count on that: a parent with a basic phone, patchy mobile data, or apps that work badly where they live. DanaTel is for those calls. It reaches the ordinary phone network, so the call rings like any other.

How a call works

Your browser connects to DanaTel's call servers over an encrypted connection. From there, the call travels over ordinary telephone networks to the number you dialled, like any international call. Only you need an internet connection.

How we charge

• Each country has a price per minute, shown on the rates page and in the dialler before you call. Some countries also have a small fee per connected call.
• Calls are billed in 6-second steps, not whole minutes.
• Unanswered and engaged calls are free, and so are calls of 10 seconds or less.
• You add credit by card, from £5. There's no subscription.
