How to dial the UK numbers
In the DanaTel dialler, type 44 (the + is already there), then the number without its first 0. Or paste a number that starts with +44 or 0044. The dialler shows 🇬🇧 United Kingdom and the price as soon as it recognises the code.
Mobiles
+44 7XXX XXXXXX
In the UK, mobile numbers are written like 07XXX XXXXXX. To call one, drop the first 0 and add +44: +44 7XXX XXXXXX.
Landlines
In the UK, landline numbers are written like 01XX XXX XXXX. To call one, drop the first 0 and add +44: +44 1XX XXX XXXX.
If someone sends you a number that already starts with +44 or 00, copy it and paste it into the dialler as it is: DanaTel tidies it up for you.

Calling the UK: questions
Can I call mobiles and landlines in the UK?
Yes. DanaTel calls mobile and landline numbers in the UK at the same per-minute rate.
Does the person in the UK need WhatsApp or the internet?
No. DanaTel connects to the ordinary phone network in the UK, so the call rings on their phone like a normal call. Only you need an internet connection.
Can I call 0800 and 03 numbers?
Yes. Type 44, then the number without its first 0: 0800 123 4567 becomes +44 800 123 4567, and 0300 123 4567 becomes +44 300 123 4567. Through DanaTel they cost the same per minute as any other number in the UK, so freephone numbers aren't free.
Numbers starting 084, 087 or 09 aren't available. Most organisations list a number for callers abroad on their website, often starting +44 1, +44 2 or +44 3.
Can I stay on hold to a bank or HMRC?
Yes. A call to a UK number can last up to 180 minutes, as long as your credit covers it. The dialler shows the cost so far while you wait, and the keypad sends tones for "press 1" menus.
Do I need to install an app?
No. DanaTel works in the web browser you already have, on your phone or computer. Sign in, type the number and press Call. On a phone you can add DanaTel to your home screen so it opens like an app, but you don't have to.
How much does it cost?
Each country has a price per minute, shown on our rates page and in the dialler before you call. Some countries also have a small fee per connected call, shown next to the rate. There's no sign-up fee, subscription or monthly charge: you buy credit and it's used as you call.
Which countries can I call?
Mobiles and landlines in Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, Ukraine, the UAE, the UK and the US. Each country's price is on our rates page, and the dialler shows it as you type the number.
Don't see your country? Type the number in the dialler and tap Request it, and we'll email you when we add it.
How is billing calculated?
Calls are billed in 6-second steps: the call length is rounded up to the next 6 seconds, not the next minute, then multiplied by the country's per-minute rate, plus its connection fee if it has one. For example, a call of 2 minutes 3 seconds is billed as 2.1 minutes. The dialler shows the cost so far while you talk.
