What the contact centre can help with
UKVI's contact centre answers questions about applying for a visa to come to the UK, problems with an online application, documents or payment, and your UKVI account. Its staff can't give advice about your personal circumstances or tell you which visa to apply for. They also can't tell you when you'll get a decision, unless your application has taken longer than usual and UKVI hasn't already contacted you.
For help with your UKVI account or eVisa, call the first number above and choose option 3. That line is open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9:30am to 4:30pm, UK time.
Calling in other languages
The visa line answers in English 24 hours a day on weekdays. It also takes calls in several other languages, including Arabic, Hindi, French and Spanish, at set times for each. GOV.UK lists the times on its UKVI contact page.
What it costs
UKVI charges 69 pence a minute for its contact centre, on top of the cost of the call itself. With DanaTel, the call costs the same as any other UK number: £0.05/min + £0.10 per connected call, billed in 6-second steps. See calls to the UK.
How to dial
- In DanaTel, type the number exactly as shown, starting +44. The dialler shows the price before you call.
- From any other phone, replace the + with your country's exit code: 00 in most countries, 011 from the US and Canada.
If the +44 300 number doesn't connect, use the +44 20 number instead. More on which UK numbers work from abroad.
Writing instead of calling
UKVI also takes questions through an online form on GOV.UK and replies by email, usually within 5 working days. There's a charge for each new question, but follow-up emails about the same question are free.
