Lost or stolen card? Freeze it first

Most banking apps let you freeze a card in seconds, which stops new payments while you get through to the bank. Then report it on the bank's lost and stolen card line: Lloyds' and NatWest's are above.

Finding any other bank's number

Every UK bank lists a number for customers abroad, usually on its "Contact us" or "Call us" page, marked "from abroad", "overseas" or "from outside the UK". It's often printed on the back of your card too. We only list numbers we've checked on the bank's own website, so if your bank isn't here, use the number it gives you.

How to dial

  1. In DanaTel, type the number exactly as shown, starting +44. The dialler shows the price before you call.
  2. From any other phone, replace the + with your country's exit code: 00 in most countries, 011 from the US and Canada.

Banks' 03 numbers work from abroad with DanaTel at the same price as other UK numbers. Numbers starting 084 or 087 don't. See which UK numbers you can call.

What it costs

Calls to the UK cost £0.05/min, billed in 6-second steps, so a long wait on hold costs only the time it lasts. A call can last up to 180 minutes, as long as your credit covers it.

Stay safe

  • Expect security questions before the bank can help, so have your card and account details to hand.
  • If someone calls you claiming to be your bank, hang up and call back on a number from the bank's website or your card.

Numbers and hours checked on hsbc.co.uk, lloydsbank.com and natwest.com on 27 October 2026. DanaTel isn't connected with any bank.
